FAQ

Are walk-ins welcomed?

YES! WALK-INS ARE WELCOMED Mondays through Saturdays! It’s first come first serve daily. You can call ahead to get artists availability or walk in if in the area. To schedule please call (212)-387-8480.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments are made by filling out our online Tattoo Request Form with the artist of your choice. When we receive your information, we will get back to you as soon as we can.

On the day of your consultation, please make sure to bring high resolution images for reference, and be prepared to leave a $100 deposit (cash or credit) which will be deducted off the final cost of the tattoo.

If you are not local, feel free to email us at inbornbrooklyntattoos@gmail.com, and let us know your travel dates, exactly what you want with images, and which artist.

How much will my tattoo cost?

There is no set tattoo cost. We have an $100 minimum and charge $200-250 per hour depending on artist.

Single-sitting tattoos are generally priced per piece, while larger, multiple-sitting tattoos are charged per hour. If you want a more exact quote, feel free to book a consultation with any of our artists and discuss budget, and final cost with them.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, and all major credit or debit cards (AMEX, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover)

I am out of town and can not pay my deposit in person, how can I send the deposit online?

In the event that you are not close or are out of town we do allow that the $100 deposit can be paid through Venmo or CashApp. However it is important that you contact us prior before sending any money online.

Can I see the drawing for my tattoo in advance?

We do not do any drawing for a tattoo until that $100 deposit is paid and the appointment is set. Your drawing will generally be ready the day of your tattoo appointment, and any changes can be made then. If you want to see the drawing before your appointment, you must make that arrangement with your artist. For certain tattoos (ie, larger pieces and cover-ups), the artist might draw directly on the skin with markers.

Do you do henna/temporary tattoos?

We do not currently. The tattoos we do are all permanent.

Do you do ultraviolet/black light tattoos?

No. We cannot vouch for the safety of those chemicals so we do not use them.

Do you do white ink tattoos?

Yes we do! That is on a case by case basis. Feel free to come in or set up a consultation appointment and talk to any of our artists about it.

Can you fix/cover up my tattoo?

We are more than happy to fix/cover up your old tattoos.

The best plan would be to arrange a consultation appointment with one of our artists in person or video meeting and let them see what they are working with.

Can you tattoo me if I am pregnant/breastfeeding?

No.

Can I drink before getting tattooed?

No. We will absolutely not tattoo anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Alcohol also thins the blood, and tends to make people more difficult to work with.

Does it hurt? What is the most painful spot?

That’s an entirely subjective question, as everyone has different pain tolerances. But generally, yes.

How should I prepare for my tattoo?

The first thing is to get a good night’s sleep! Being well rested is super important.

Make sure to eat a good meal a few hours before and stay very well hydrated through the day. Feel free to bring yourself a drink and a small snack.

Can I use numbing creams?

We advise all of our clients to do the proper research before using numbing creams. This is because some creams tend to work better on the skin then others. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out to any of our artists. They will be more then happy to answer any questions you may have about numbing creams.

Is your shop licensed/clean?

Every artist in our shop is licensed by the New York State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and has received education on blood borne pathogens and cross contamination. We take every measure possible to ensure personal safety. We use sterile, single use gloves and needles. All other supplies are medically sterilized.

Should I tip my artist?

If you are happy with your tattoo, absolutely! As a guideline for percentages, think of it as you would any service industry. The norm is 15-20%, though we are appreciative of whatever amount you think is appropriate. We accept tips in the form of cash or credit cards.
